THE TRAIN OF THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD. Not since 1874 to find news of the first train was launched. Miracle happened in and during the 85 years the network was extended to all corners of the country. The work was completed in 1965, but the railroad survived barely a decade. When in 2007 it decided to begin its restoration, only three sections of the original tracks intact. There are four routes enabled (others still under reconstruction). The road to Cotopaxi from Quito to Latacunga, lasts eight hours and you can explore the avenue of volcanoes (Ilaló, Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, Cotopaxi, Pichincha, Atacazo, Heart, Illinizas …). The so-called Freedom Train connects Ibarra and Salinas de Ibarra in four hours and allow travelers to enjoy the unique landscapes and cross tunnels built with pick and shovel. The journey of the Devil’s Nose (Riobamba-Alausí-Sibambe) lasts four hours and to appreciate the church in Colta Balvanera, the desert of Palmyra and the monumental Chimborazo. Finally, the tour Los Baños del Inca (Tambo-Coyoctor) requires just 45 minutes and passes close to the Castle Ingapirca Inca temple of worship to the Sun
